me as really dumb.

I came of age in the 60s, and trust me, I remember them quite well. Admittedly, I wasn't doing drugs then, and never did do acid. Very boring person here.

I remember The Beatles on Ed Sullivan Show.
Motown sounds of the Supremes, Little Stevie Wonder
Hullabaloo, Shindig, Dark Shadows
Chevy El Camino
Psychodelic rock
Haight Ashbury district
Hippies
Vietnam
Rattled Hair
Big Curlers
Star Trek
Mini skirts and Bell Bottom pants
3 channels on TV
Hi Fidelity
Bonanza being the first TV show to telecast in color
JFK, MLK,RFK assassinations
the Space Program
Fuzzy Dice on the rear view mirror

Just some of the many things the 60's meant to me.

It was so cool to be unable to stop laughing about every little thing. I could use some of that now.

True story: two of my college buddies and I went to a councelor to try and get our enthusiasm back about the status quo as seen by the non Hippies. We were depressed because of the “establishment” and the emptiness of life as usual, and we saw no purpose to life as our parents saw. We wanted guidance to find truth in life.

After talking for a while the counselor just looked depressed and said he hadn’t seen it that way before. He looked depressed. We realized all we had managed to do was convert him without giving him any safe haven. I don’t really know if that was a good thing or not. In all these intervening years, we have not fulfilled the promise of our dreams. But I wouldn’t change my belief in the potential of this country.

But I had a bunch of kaleidoscopes throughout the decade...does that count?

I did acid in the 70s, it was never like that. We went to a carnival thinking all the sites and sounds would be cool...it wasn't. Instead the crowd just drove us crazy. It wasn't a very crowded event. The acid made it seem more crowded than it was. It seemed like everyone was in our faces, so we went home and watched our hands "make trails".

I remember the 60s perfectly well, although I will grant it can be argued I was never really "there."

It was best to turn off all the lights and do it with cigarettes or joints!
