Yes, loved him, his voice and his sense of humor. I was so sad when he retired.

for many years. I'm sad right now but thankful I got to hear Carl back in the

NPR, or at least our local station, is nothing like it used to be. I used to listen all day along, and often experienced what they call "driveway moments", when you wait inside your car after getting home. because the story is too interesting to shut off the radio and get out.
These days it's lots of short, shallow segments with an emphasis on human interest stories and untalented singers with thin, reedy voices. We've stopped contributing years ago.
