As remarkably captured by Neil Young and (CSNY) in that poignant song, which never fails to bring me to tears.

RIP

If you haven't been to the museum, it's worth the trip.

Her life was forever changed. She worked in the criminal justice system in Ohio for years. She got her Doctorate when she turned 60 and is now a professor at Kent State.

In all, at least 29 of the 77 guardsmen claimed to have fired their weapons, using an estimate of 67 rounds of ammunition.

Let that sink in. This was no accident.

All 77 guardsmen would be firing their AR-47's indiscriminately. They'd mow down every protester standing on that field.

In 1970 there were Vietnam war protests on virtually every college campus in the US. But in those days the National Guard looked on the protesters as their friends and neighbors. Nowadays they'd all be treated as "enemies."

I was a very young chlld when this happened so I have no real memory of it, but I believe it is one of the greatest shames of our nation.
I hope we never have to see anything like this happen again, but to be honest, if things keep going the way they are I don't have a lot of faith.
