Silicone popcorn popper. Amazon. Price range from $10 to around $20.
Put 1/3 cup of regular popcorn with salt and oil if you want it, cover and microwave for 2 minutes.
Perfect popcorn every time.
Sprinkle with sugar for kettle corn style.
I love using this instead of pre packaged microwave popcorn with chemicals.

(8,445 posts)I have one of those Nordic microwave bowls, but for the last few years I've been using a whirlypop. It takes about 5 minutes from the time we decided we want popcorn to eating it, and it reminds me of the way my mom used to make popcorn in a kettle on the stove. I enjoy those little trips down memory lane.
I'll probably order the silicone popper. Thanks.

(15,805 posts)I've had mine for a few years and it makes great popcorn, with or without oils. We like to add our own seasonings like garlic, onion, paprika, cinnamon, taco spice packet, or ranch dressing mix. You can buy all kinds of packaged seasonings, and our current fave is Dill Pickle.

(6,930 posts)Do you expand it first or let it happen in the microwave? The instructions show both. My first batch came out ok, but with a lot of unpopped kernels. Any hints will be welcome!

(22,264 posts)push down gently; you just need to make the little knob on the top of the lid go down. It will be just slightly concave.
When it's finished, your lid will be sitting at a slight angle, which allows steam to escape.
I usually do not have many unpopped kernels at all. If your microwave is a lower wattage, you may need a bit extra time.
