If someone wrote a short email to you and said, "try to put yourself in her place if you ever could,"
(1) how would you interpret it and
(2) how would it make you feel?
Cannot give more info for fear of prejudicing your answers.
Many thanks!

(22,758 posts)(1) how would you interpret it... passive aggression, an attack
(2) how would it make you feel... like I don't want to communicate with this person, sad for them that they can't be a mature rational person and engage in a productive conversation

(28,127 posts)She replied that she only meant her statement to be "loving and comforting." "WTF??!" To quote my hub's respond to her statement and to her explanation after I confronted her.
She cannot understand that she was being condescending and judgmental. It's a long story. But the bottom line is that logic escapes her and she stands by her explanation. And she's had a long history of not believing me, so I felt
I needed unbiased 3rd party input.
I love DU and DUers!

(28,127 posts)She couldn't understand how what she said was terribly insulting. She never said "I did not mean that." Rather she became angry because I was so angry. I want her to understand that she deeply insulted me. She just thinks I just had an irrational, over-the-top response to her statement.
It's been a pattern with her. For years she has not believed my statements, even admitted such. I've had enough. BLPD people are difficult, even if they are very loving and sweet at times. They are irrational.
"Some people just arent worth engaging with.."
Amen. Thank you.

(22,181 posts)He was reading the phone book. Depending on how he read it, and his body language, he could make it sound angry, or menacing. He could make it lovely and melodic. Its all in the interpretation.
In your particular case, this doesn't sound like someone with which you enjoy engaging. Obviously stressful. Write them off unless they have other redeeming qualities.
