First vacation in years

Found a cute hotel in downtown St Pete. I can't believe how many restaurants and bars there are. Looking forward to museum hopping tomorrow. I think I'll start with the Salvadore Dali and work my way through the rest.

I'll be staying in Clearwater. I grew up in Tampa and lived there until I was in my mid 20's so I know the area pretty well. I am really looking forward to the beach.
Have fun, and don't forget the sunscreen!

It's a beautiful beach and has some great locations to picnic. http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/05_ft_desoto.htm

On the way, go to Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish: http://www.tedpetersfish.com/ Their smoked mullet is fantastic!

If the new St. Pete Pier is finished let us know how it turned out. I haven't been in twenty years but I loved the Columbia Restaurant that was there and the shops were lovely. They've since torn down the old one and as of January 2018 they were still working on it:
