Why I will never own a male dog.

So I take my dog to the vet today and find a crowded waiting room. People seem a little tense, more people and pets to one side of the room than the other. I just assume they're trying to size up my dog and I'm happy to see that she's behaving extremely well. I go to the side of the waiting room that has the only open seat, sit down and in a matter of seconds I see what has everyone so uptight.

The only other dog on our side is a big black dog who seems to be angry at the world. His owner is doing a great job of controlling him, but it's a chore. My dog is unsure what to do, but I reassure her and reward her for ignoring him. It works, for the most part. I take glances at the black dog to make sure everything is under control and I notice the dog is huge. He's all out there for everyone to see, and I realize THAT's the reason why I will never own a male dog. Geez. Avert your gaze.

You get accustom to the humping behavior because both sexes do it as an act of dominance. But, a big dog with a big legacy...No where to hide. It's bad enough that you have to answer for it during mating season, but when you add emotional swings to the list, no way. Too much upkeep.

..wouldn't know what we were talking about...but seriously. I will always own one of each sex.. I have never had an issue with the 'inkpay ingthay'..and I have large retrievers. My males are love sponges and squat to pee. My females hump!

Even though the boys were good boys, I prefer females. They are more willing than some of the males to accept me as the alpha in the household. The girls were a little easier to potty train and are a little more settled when out in public.
