Can we move it to July 6?
First off, Wednesday is going to be brutally hot with a good chance of thunderstorms. The weather is supposed to be much nicer by Friday and it will make for much more comfortable participation. (I am, of course, assuming that SOME of the battles will take place in Michigan. We have a pretty nifty fort up in Mackinaw City.)
Secondly, I didn't get a notification text OR an email, yet. I actually found out about this from InfoWars. Postponing it gives me much more time to maybe write a rousing battle song or two (hopefully some people will bring guitars), select a good wine, and make something special for our post-war pot luck.
Important question: Do people prefer sweet or dill pickles in the potato salad. I'm a fan of dill, myself.

(29,721 posts)I really have a jammed packed week and it's supposed to storm this weekend. I don't have enough rain gear for a revolution, so let's be fair weather revolutionaries. How about we just have weekend revolting too, since we all have work to do.

I'll bring my clip board; he'll bring some squibs. Oh yeah, coffee. Americans can't fight if there's no coffee.
Hubby suggested fly swatters. They double as swagger sticks - dazzle them with our elan.
I'll make gazpacho.

the war on women's rights
the war on trade
the war on truth
the war on civility, etc.
P.S. Dill and Hellman's mayonnaise
mahatmakanejeeves
(57,565 posts)Wars have broken out over things like this.
Duke's Mayonnaise is a condiment created by Mrs. Eugenia Duke at Duke's sandwich shop of Greenville, South Carolina, in 1917. While it is the third-largest mayonnaise brand in the United States (behind Hellmann's and Kraft), its popularity was at first largely limited to the south. It is used in regional favorites such as tomato sandwiches, cole slaw, deviled eggs, pimento cheese, and potato salad. Duke's Mayonnaise contains more egg yolks than other mayonnaise products and no added sugar, giving it a tangy flavor.
By 2017, in the centennial year of its original recipe, Duke's mayonnaise became available throughout the United States and also in New Zealand, Australia and the Middle East. In 2017 Sauer announced that it was also starting sales to Latin America.
C.F. Sauer Company in Richmond, Virginia purchased the Duke's Products in 1929, and Duke's mayonnaise became the company's flagship product.
In 2017, the South Carolina legislature recognized the centennial of Duke's.

(13,108 posts)Damn, to many wars not enough time.
P.S. I have never seen or tasted Duke's.
It is probably very good.
The one I can't tolerate is Miracle Whip.
It tastes like mayonnaise dumped full of sugar.
mahatmakanejeeves
(57,565 posts)My mom never used anything but Hellman's. I don't really have a beef with it. The only thing that bugs me about it is that Hellman's cut the size of the jar so that it holds only 15 ounces. Duke's still comes in 16-ounce jars.

(26,286 posts)Which Uncle made the best hamburgers, and which mixed the best Manhattan. One Uncle lived at a lake, so then we added the battle of who caught the most fish and who then did the best fish fry.
Everyone is gone, now. If we can delay this Civil War, I'll probably declare war on some weeds, do a reconnaissance check for tomato worms, followed by making a turkey sandwich and drinking some beer - or maybe a Manhattan, in tribute to my Dad and Uncles.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)tomato worms. I went out on another kudzu patrol while twas still cool yesterday, this time along the road so I got to take my coffee with me. No kudzu, but a pink milkweed seems to be moving in on the white that used to own the low verge.
We're not a big family, older generations gone, grandkids heading too fast for adolescence, and then there'll be a big gap without children. But we already spend a lot of holidays as you plan and think it's lovely.
Peace.

(115,797 posts)I also don't like mustard or radishes in it, or anything oniony, or Miracle Whip. It has to be actual mayonnaise. Sliced cucumbers, fresh dill and boiled eggs are good additions; if there's going to be war I think we need more vitamins and protein.
Can we have s'mores when it's over?
