(3,163 posts)Besides which, she's a Calico. One lives with us, and she owns the place. Calico cats are special.
Edit: I misspoke. We live with her.

(3,163 posts)She was about two years ole when we rescued her, and they were pretty sure she was a lost pet who had been on her own for a while as she was wearing a collar when she was brought in. She loves to sit in the window and watch the outdoors, but has no interest in going out. If a door is left open she will sort of peer out and sniff, but stays inside. Clearly it's a case of, "I've been there and I like it better here."
We would keep her indoors in any case. We keep their claws on, but we are indoor kitty people.

(10,013 posts)She's unleashed, no collar/tags I can see, at the mercy of anyone passing by, and if she wanders into the street, her life is even more at risk. I really can't believe any cat lover is OK with that scenario.

(115,743 posts)This one might have a home, or she could be a stray (though she looks well-fed). My own cats are indoor cats and I agree that they are better off indoors. That said, obviously I have no control over this one. I commented only that she did not seem either uncomfortable or underfed.

(16,402 posts)Cats almost always are.
Not to steal this lovely calico's moment, but here's another cool cat who is exactly where she wants to be: Elsie.
Elsie Cat MC is named for Elspeth Beard, the first British woman to motorcycle around the world, whom Elsie has met in person. They are pictured above together early in May.
I've had the pleasure of spending a little time with this feisty, adventuresome kitten. She's been riding with her human since she was just a few weeks old and is an old pro now at about 3-1/2 months. She wears a harness (now that she's big enough) and leash, attached to her human for safety, but she's very confident and perfectly at home on the bike.
I used to ride, so this just blows me away. Since May, they've been cross-country and back, most recently made a round trip to Chicago, and there have been plenty of shorter adventures in between. Lots of very cool pictures and some video on the FB page, so enjoy: https://www.facebook.com/elsiecatmc/
