Can anyone recommend a good home security camera system?

I'm getting tired of peeking in windows all day and could use a handy app to keep track of my neighbor's business.

Just kidding, I've recently moved and need a good system. My new residence is sprawling and has a ton of blind spots. And yes, if it can be used on my smart phone and tablets, all the better.

....it's easy (assuming you have strong wi-fi signals in your residence, inside and out). You recharge the batteries once a month or so, so there are no power or data wiring that you have to do.

I've had essentially no problems with it for more than a year. When one camera died, Ring replaced it with no questions asked.

Great company (and no, I am not Shaq, who is the spokesperson for company!)

Have no personal experience with it but several friends have been happy.
I think it’s on amazon.

And even after that I'm thinking I'll need a mesh system. Old brick homes are cool but the wifi needs a boost to get to all corners and outside to where I want cameras.

Thanks for all the ideas, folks.

....it works great with Ring (and everything else), and it is absolutely a no-brainer to install.

Very happy with both Ring and Google mesh.

Just for a frame of reference, a single camera capturing 30 fps @ 1600 x 1200 (2MP) with high video quality will stream around 9.4 Mbps on h.264 compression. Try to run 8 cameras at that rate on a 54Mbps WiFi connection, and you can expect to have some problems.

... if you can see it over an internet connection the odds are unacceptably high that somebody else can see it too.

As lowly chattel of dragons I generally don't have to worry about such things but I still put black tape over the cameras of any laptops and phones I happen to be using.

I rarely talk about anything important so microphones are less of a concern. Best anyone is likely to get on me with an internet enabled microphone is my sometimes wildly inappropriate Muttley laugh.

I've openly confessed to naked pix on the internet, even here on DU, but all these years nobody has delivered. A full frontal picture of me, twenty-something Hunter, wearing nothing but a hat is the prize. (For a few glorious years as a young adult I was fucking HOT! Unfortunately I was a literally bloody hot mess too.)

My own sprawling residence has plenty of blind spots but it doesn't matter. Trespassers are eaten and I put on the blue gloves, sometimes entire hazmat suit and respirator, and clean up the shit.

It would make like the most boring movie ever. Hunter irritable, on or off his meds, cleaning up shit.
