There's a TV ad running for a cruise next January featuring a whole bunch of Southern rock groups. I don't recall that Black Oak Arkansas was among them. Is it even still around?

Yeah, I could look that up.

Jim Dandy was the first man I ever saw (outside of ballet) to perform on stage in tights. Don't care much for Jim personally, but I've always loved the band.

In 1976 I was music director for an FM Top 40 station. BOA was then with MCA records, and they weren't doing all that well. They were scheduled to do a show in my town, and the MCA promo guy, with whom I had a good relationship, offered to bring them out to the station for an interview. They had a reputation for bad behavior, and the operations manager said no. I was relieved, but apologetically relayed the decision to the promo guy. "No problem," he said. "I'll bring them over to your apartment for the interview!"

It took some fast talking to shoot down that idea and still maintain a good relationship with MCA.
