I have been vaping instead of smoking for about 5 months now and have some questions I would like to run by other folks who "vape".
Anyone?

(16,402 posts)Actually, I "graduated" to a mod and refillable tank some time ago, but it's still vaping. What are your questions?

(522 posts)After that they taste like they are burned even though I am careful not to let them get completely empty before I refill them. ow have a tank that has a coil that can be replaced. The coils last couple of months are are cheaper than replacing the whole tank.

(16,402 posts)Finally, though, I found a mod that takes replacement batteries instead of throwing the whole thing out and a tank/atomizer combination that actually delivers. I change my coil about once every 2 weeks and find that the flavor is much better, without that burned taste.
The exact mod and tank I currently use have been replaced with new models, but the basic designs are the same. Have you checked out Joyetech yet?

(522 posts)I have questions about the battery part of the pen. I have gotten two different ones from two different stores. The ones from one store last about a month then seem to slowly lose the ability to recharge. When they do, they no longer will screw into the charge cord that came with them. The battery that I got from another store lasted longer but not much and the issues are the same.
Question...do any of these come with batteries that can be replaced once they no longer will take and hold a charge? Neither kind I have has a way to open them.
See my most recent post above.
Looks like I have more terms to learn. I will bookmark and go all through it and figure out what will work best for me.
I am so grateful for having quit smoking (after 50+ years) but vaping has been more trouble than smoking! Maybe this site will solve most of my irritations with it. Don't guess any system will keep me from occasionally spilling some of the oil and getting it all over me and my desk.

(13,948 posts)Do you know what kind of batteries you have?
When I used eGo type batteries, they would last more than a year. The decline in capacity was very gradual. Unless you happened to get a couple of very bad batteries, the problem is probably elsewhere.
Gunk on the contacts or threads of either the battery or charger will drastically slow, or stop, charging. I would have to clean mine every 3-4 weeks. Alcohol & q-tips work well.

(2,302 posts)Do a little research and you'll find a system you can be happy with. I'm still using an e-cig that has been discontinued and I'm looking around myself for a replacement. But in general, vaping is great! I used to sing and gradually lost much of my range...it's come back! Plus no more coughing or phlegm. I do have moderate COPD, but so happy I quit when I did.

(3,065 posts)When I get the burnt taste on a new coil, I play around with the air intake or lower the wattage. Different juices will sometimes require your air or wattage to be adjusted for the best taste. YMMV
