When the men are wearing suits and ties and the women are wearing sleeveless dresses, how can they both be comfortable?
Why aren't the women freezing? Why aren't the men way too hot?
How can the suit-wearing men and the women in summer dresses both be comfortable?

(4,483 posts)there are plenty of occasions where the sexes dress like this, not on tv. Like a fancy party, or church in the summer time. I think men's and women's thermostats must be set differently--thus explaining the battle over the thermostat at my house!

(34,661 posts)as a business account. That was back in the nineties when the News Sets were mostly sit down around a semi circle table. Talk about a cold warehouse type setting, the female anchors usually wore wore leggings or slacks under their dresses or a nice sport jacket all about staying warm. The Sports Guy always wore shorts and tennis shoes, shirt and tie with some really different Sport coats.
Now days, there is a Wardrobe of Clothing form local sponsors. As per my neighbor who works the Cameras at one of the local stations, they use electric heaters just off the edge of the Sets.

(47,479 posts)In the good old days of the 20th Century, of "Dress for Success" women were wearing suits, skirt suits, mostly, but then shifted to slacks.
The idea was to appear professional. In the past 10 years, or so, women expose as much skin as... the producers demand?
Thighs, upper arms - whether trim or not, cleavage, off the shoulder dresses.
Honestly, I wonder how much "professional" they are and I certainly have no respect for them.
Yes, the suits were the "uniform." And as everyone will tell you, when you are dressed in a uniform you behave differently, you know that you also represent the unit.
Well, this may not be what you had in mind but..

(13,569 posts)...get tweets from me telling them that their voice is diminished by unprofessional appearance. Skimpy spaghetti strap top with deep cleavage is inappropriate. Men are wearing suits, ties. Dress for success.

(50,557 posts)The lighting fixtures they use on TV sets put out a lot of heat, and they use a lot of fixtures. But our culture demands that men wear a suit and tie to be taken seriously.

(16,379 posts)As oppressive as women can be expected to dress at times, men have it bad, too. It should be a law that we all just wear whatever makes us feel good.
