Is it normal for your IP address to just change?

I just logged in to my Gmail and then I got one of those messages asking me to confirm that it was me logging in a few minutes ago. I noticed that the IP address was completely different but I had in fact just logged in. Is this normal?

Good. I don't need a static address. There were just a couple things that happened that made me nervous. I got an email saying that my Verizon bill was ready and when i looked at the bill it was about HALF of what it usually is. I'm not complaining but something is amiss. Then I got the notification about the login and noticed the change in IP address and I got a bit more nervous.

Make sure that you check your security though. Google should have a link there for that.

Look at where that new IP address is physically located. Make sure it's on your internet provider and close by.

Never hurts to check

Would I unplug the modem from my laptop,
or unplug the modem from the wall electrical outlet?

Thanks
