with three white ladies (I'm an old white lady, too!). None of them knew that you added the spices to the cooking meat and onions. They planned to add the chili powder and cumin and whatnot when the liquids were added.

I tried to explain about aromatics and blooming the spices, but . . . I just took over instead. They must have grown up on mac 'n cheese with American cheese and boiled potatoes and meatloaf made with Campbell's tomato soup!
