Democrats got a huge win as Republican billionaires are no longer going to be able to fund dark money express advocacy ads without having their identity disclosed.
CREW, who filed the lawsuit against Crossroads GPS and the FEC, said in a statement:
The Supreme Court today denied a stay, and lifted a temporary stay by Chief Justice Roberts, in Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washingtons (CREW) landmark dark money case against Crossroad GPS and the Federal Election Commission (FEC). This decision, following similar decisive decisions by the district court and court of appeals this week, means that effective immediately, anyone making more than $250 in express advocacy ads ads that tell viewers who to vote for or against must now disclose the identities of all contributors who gave more than $200 in a year. They must also identify who among those contributors earmarked their contributions for express ads. Because of this decision, the contributors for a major category of dark money spending this fall will have to be disclosed to the public.

Oh, and the Stink Bug invasion has started. Not as bad as last year, but still pretty annoying.

(40,212 posts)Of course there have always been natural disasters.
But do you remember when we lived in a country when there use to be "slow news days'? Remember the days when they had "human interest" stories on the news and days when CNN sent Jeanne Moos out on assignment to report on the street signs in Greenwich Village or about some guy playing a bongo drum in Times Square?
Now, every day we are bombarded with nothing but misery.

(14,532 posts)and no bells or whistles around here it's cheaper than an older house on the market. Basically you can't find a house this small in good shape. 900 sq ft. if that. There is always major work that needs to be done...new roof, old electrical (which means tearing out walls.) Plumbing leaks that caused so much damage that floor joists were rotted. We found repos that held promise (in the ads), but they were tore up. In one there was no way the human & pet feces & dead rat smell would ever go away.
Then there was the one that had so much mold on the inside that it was starting to grow on the outside.

from my retina specialist.
Four years ago I was getting a shot in my eyeball every month then every six weeks.
Now I'm in good shape.
Also good, Medicare paid for it so thank you to all you taxpayers.

(7,390 posts)Amazing what can be done with medical care. I am happy for you too.

(9,199 posts)They totally fixed it!
It was a tiny blood leak behind my retina. I would have gone blind in that eye had it been untreated.
It worked just like Fix-A-Flat!

(15,540 posts)I've just been diagnosed with the "wet" form of macular degeneration myself and started the shots last month. I hope they help. My specialist wants to do it for one year. I had heard that Medicare would pay for it plus I have a G plan supplement.

(9,199 posts)The concept of getting a shot in your eye is much worse than how it feels.
The feeling is transitory pressure, not really pain.

(34,393 posts)calm him and to let him know he was safe. Now that's a real man.
That poor wet kitty still dog paddling even though he was out of the water.
And the dog with what looked like mange--how long had that poor guy been suffering like that? That couldn't have developed in just two days.
Animal rescuers are superheroes in my book.

I'm particularly interested in seeing that display of several costumes from famous movies. The actual costumes from "My Fair Lady" are on display. And they have little carts that we can access since I am old and arthritic and can't walk very far.
