And the real and correct answer on favorite song, album, show (which would have got great responses) is "The one I am listening too right now".... (Dark Star 10-31-91 with Ken Kesey rap, the night after Bill Graham died)

What's really interesting for me, I was just fleshing out the story of Tony Rice's (originally Clarence White's) magical 1935 D-28 Martin guitar and revisited the Pizza Tapes. Good stuff.

The New Riders of the Purple Sage used the Hard Truckers shop for jamming and equipment storage. Even after Garcia left, he was always around, along with a whole bunch of notable people in the Marin music scene. Friday afternoons were always interesting.

My favorite albums are Live Dead (Skull and Roses) and Bear's Choice.

The sonic clarity on Live Dead was really amazing given the state of audio technology in 1971. They were firing on all 8 cylinders in that show.

Bears Choice was also live, but was one of my favorites because Ron McKernan was playing and singing at his best.

Too many to list, maybe.

If you truly want to amaze and perhaps horrify your friends, perform Trucking in a loud Ethel Merman voice. It's a winner every time.

China Cat Sunflower, Sugar Magnolia, Samson and Delilah, Franklin’s Tower, even the Disco Dead and offshoot ones. Garcia and Grisman were wonderful, and I have a silly soft spot for Bob Weir even at his cheesiest.
