Cheer up DUers, People Don't Actually Find You as Annoying as You Think

https://www.sciencealert.com/psychologists-explain-first-impressions-conversations-liking-gap

Give them time.

If you're the sort of person who walks away from a conversation feeling awkward about what you said and whether you left a bad impression, you're far from alone.

The good news is new research shows we're likely to underestimate how much we're liked by relative strangers. So cheer up! It takes time for somebody to really get to know how awful you are.

Truth is, the reason I have no friends is because I prefer it that way. I'm not a people person.

but none of the people around me are.

They are anti-people persons.

Though I wonder if maybe they are just anti-one-specific-people persons. Seems like it would be a remarkable coincidence that everyone I know is!

[s a toothpaste commercial where this annoying (for the sake of continuity) young lady talks about talking to a person at a party who had really bad breath, who kept moving away ....

then she realized it was HER who had bad breath.

Just a suggestion, but could it be that you bear a strong resemblance to this person?

I prefer to think we're likely to underestimate how much we're loved by stranger relatives!

Last night I happened to mention to my son that I read and post on Democratic Underground. He responded, "Of course you do!"
