OP
Wow! Very cool. The best halibut I ever had was that a friend gave me after a fishing trip to Alaska

(1,975 posts)7. I caught a 220lb'er
While I was stationed in Kodiak, AK. It was one of the most interesting fish I have ever caught. The feeling was like I was trying to pull up a 12x12 piece of plywood covered in lead from 300 feet deep. Thankfully, my buddy had the shotgun when it surfaced and it wasn't to hard to get it into the boat from then.
It was great because we pulled right up to the fish processing plant, they hauled it up, made 2 lb fillets of the whole fish, flash frozen and vacuum sealed for $75. The fish tacos, beer battered, and just fillets were sooooo good. Id love to catch another one.
