But I'm not sure I would have the courage to run down that ramp. I tried hang gliding when I was in college, and I was pretty unsuccessful at getting off the ground, got tons of bruises, and was sore as could be the next day

I choose safety. Was considering doing this, but my friend tried one time and broke her arm in 5 places and will never regained the use of her right hand from the massive damage. No thanks!

Paragliding is safer, since there is no rigid frame to fail and you already have a parachute:

For PPC, you don’t need a pilot certificate and if the engine quits you just glide back to the ground.

Unknown terrain below the clouds. About half of all air crashes in Alaska involve flight into terrain...If I'm gonna die I suppose it's better as a surprise, but still...

What did he look like? What was he wearing? Any tatts or piercings? Also, what does he do for a living?

My post refers to the last line in the poem "High Flight". This used to be the last thing late at night before the television station signed off when I was a kid.

always throw it out there. Now that I reread it I see it as humor, I'm the one that didn't get it.
Have a good day
