Who knows their horror genre? Jason vs. Leatherface vs. Michael Myer vs Chainsaw Massacre

Coming to this thing really late. Seriously, did they just put on a different mask on their villains and give them all resurrection powers?

I see similarities between Leatherface and Jason. And Leatherface even had Freddie Krueger razor fingertips at the end of the movie. So confused.

None. I don't like horror films at all. mysteryowl Oct 2018 #3
All I can say is, don't bother with anything beyond the first installments of any of those series. Iggo Oct 2018 #4

up Texas Chainsaw Massacre family which is the best known first final girl/gore fest type movie. It set a genre on a shoestring budget. Their were other slasher exploitation flicks at the time, but it broke out into the mainstream and established Tobe Hooper.

Michael Myers of Halloween fame is probably the first well known of the unstoppable slasher types. It is actually a better cinematic experience movie (mainstream).

Ironically Jason of the Friday the 13th series only has a minor role in the first movie. After that it kind of follows Halloween with more sex. He even eventually adopts his own distinctive mask.

There are two other final girl movies that came before Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The one who appeared in The Last House on the Left (which is a thoroughly unpleasant experience to watch) and Black Christmas.

Black Christmas can be viewed as predating Halloween with the unstoppable killer in the house. It is a pretty good flick.
