(6,806 posts)I have one of the wonders of the world - pancakes. Funny you should ask: Just the other day, I had 7-Grain Pancakes with tons of syrup and dripping butter. I am good for another year or so. The 7-grains were to make sure I was eating something healthy 😸.

(17,636 posts)...but im not a real syrup fan so mostly I eat them dripping in butter with just a little syrup on the side for dipping.

(21,718 posts)but only the kind that don't disintegrate on contact with butter or syrup. Meaning, you have to be able to stab it with your fork, pick it up with the fork and place it in your mouth before it falls apart by chewing a little. They can have blueberries or something like that in them but that's all... and NO cinnamon!

(22,758 posts)I grew up in Michigan and we never had waffles (too poor for a waffle maker, I think). Now, I love waffles crispy with lots of maple syrup!

(22,758 posts)I have an old cheap black and decker (have had it about 30 years). I get it good and hot, brush it (pastry brush) with butter (or whatever grease you desire) put batter in and bake... the first waffles are NEVER good and the chickens (or non fussy son) get these...
more butter and start the next batch and cook until crisp... never fail. I think the hot and grease give it the crisp... and if that fails... since they are square; toast them in the toaster I always freeze remaining for a quick treat from toaster

(22,899 posts)You wouldn't know the model number of the waffle iron, would you? They can be bought for next-to-nothing online sometimes.

(22,758 posts)I picked up a second at Salvation Army store as a backup, just in case ( $5.00). although because mine are so old, they must be better.
