Especially some of the large or giant breeds. Mama can pack 14 or 15 of 'em in there. Amazing!

At least when I was enormously preggers I understood what was happening. They are miserable and don't know why.

maybe not on a cognitive level, but definitely on instinct; she knows she's going to be a momma.
