It was a french movie. The lead actress is famous but I cannot remember the name.
Summer. Somewhere in the french countryside.
A woman in her 40s or 50s is on vacation in a old male friend's summer-cottage. All alone except for an old gardener who shows up once in a while. She's an author who just wants to get away from it all.
One day the rebellious teenage-daughter of that friend shows up. Single-father, no mother-figure, a troublemaker, safely tucked away in a boarding-school where she can't embarass her father. She moves into the cottage as well.
After a rocky start, they decide to tolerate each other.
One evening, the teenage-daughter brings two young men from the nearby town and they have a party. The woman is at the same time repulsed and fascinated by the youthful debauchery.
The two young men show up more often. The woman joins the get-togethers and eventually has sex with one of them. The teenage-daughter gets jealous, shoves him, he trips and breaks his neck.
A murder on hand, the woman understands that it was a crime of passion, that the teenage-daughter didn't want to kill him and that their lives will be ruined if this ever gets known. The woman's motherly instincts kick in. The woman and the teenage-daughter conspire to cover up the crime and make the corpse disappear.
Bonded over a dark secret, a true understanding and true friendship have grown.
The vacation over, they part ways but vow to stay friends.
Some time later, the woman is back in the city, back at her job. She meets the friend and he has great news: His daughter is coming over from boarding-school!
The woman goes for a visit, all excited to see her companion again. But...
It turns out that his daughter is not the teenage-girl she met at the cottage.
That teenage-girl was an impostor, someone else.
