Facebook rightfully gets a lot of crap, but they do perform a valuable service.

You know that friend of a friend who apparently went to school with you but you can't for your life remember who he or she is?

And then you see that person posting on your friend's pages, and that person turns out to be a total idiot and/or obnoxious asshole?

And so you end up counting your lucky stars that you don't remember going to school with this person because you know that person would have been just that annoying back then?

And you now know that if this person were ever to send you a friend request you can happily say know, both on account of not remembering this person (even though you should) and also not want to actually know this person?

And you are now glad that you never bothered to make any sort of emotional connection with this person and that you aren't missing out by the fact that you never got to know this person?

Well, Facebook does that.

So....um....thank you Mark Zuckerberg?
