1. Just copy the link and paste

Second, that’s what I used to do, but now it keeps trying to kick me to the app, and when I just log into it directly, the address just says “m.youtube.com” not the actual bit I’m looking for, even though I’m watching it.

1. Play the video in portrait mode in the YouTube app (install the app if you don't have it).
2. Click the Share button which is a curved arrow.
3. Select Copy Link from the list of options (it's usually the first one on the left for me).
4. Inside DU, hold your finger down on the field where you want to paste the link until the Paste option appears.
5. Select Paste and the link should be inserted for you.
