https://whdh.com/news/pickup-truck-smashes-through-home-in-templeton-nearly-hits-woman-sleeping-on-couch/Thank goodness no one was injured. Obviously, the house has to be torn down.
The family has been put up in a local hotel. We offered them our 3 bedrooms upstairs, but we have yet to hear back from them. (I imagine they are a bit busy...)

(9,535 posts)Temporarily condemned doesn't mean permanently -- the inspector just doesn't want people going inside until it's been evaluated and repairs made.
I've seen several buildings where vehicles crashed through and none were torn down.
Glad your friends are okay, which is the most important thing.
Tell them to ask their insurance about temporary relocation coverage that may pay for a hotel and temporary living expenses.
Also the driver ultimately is responsible -- they can go after his insurance company assuming he's insured, and their homeowners insurance policy for anything not covered by the driver or his insurance. In that sense, they have more financial options than if this was a natural disaster.
