Fav childhood holiday memory. What is yours?

When I was 5 or 6 our class played angels in the Christmas play. We all wore white and had halos made out of tinsel. We sang a carol or two. Everything was homemade back then so everyone had a different halo. We made the wings in class so at least those were the same. I had never been onstage before. It went okay. We were a group as you do with such young children. The parents in the audience probably giggled quite a bit as we sang. My dad came up to me after it was over and told me he saw me fly up in the air all around the stage. He mimed flying by putting his wrists to his shoulders, hands out, and flapping them in the air. I tried and tried to believe him but I could not. The real gift was I realized how much fun he was. And how much he cared.

went to a local park with my parents on xmas eve. no one else was there. the pond was frozen and it had an island in the center. i had my ice skates and held on to my parents as we skated round and round. after awhile they were ready to leave, but i wasn't. telling me we'd better get home because santa would be here soon wasn't incentive enough--i figured it wasn't that late yet. then my dad pointed up to the sky and said "there's rudolph's red light so we'd better get going." i looked up and saw the red light in sky and knew we'd better hurry home.

it took a few years for me to realize he was pointing up to an airplane. but that xmas eve, i couldn't see the plane -- all i could see was the red light from rudolph's nose.

One year there was no snow in ottawa and we all could skate all over a nearby lake. It was truly beautiful. Then one time I ended up on a long lake and my ankles collapsed due to previous basketball injury that fall and that was a nightmare. I have hardly skated since.

Most of my favorite holiday memories revolve around a great meal with A LOT of family. I loved them all.
