Simply reading the categories will give students ideas for original papers.

I was a professor for 37 years and first developed the index for a class, but then Kimberly Southwch-Thompson worked with me to make it academic, useful, and simple to use.

Note: the site is safe. The Modern America Poetry site was originally hosted by on the Univ. of Illinois. Now it's hosted by an open sourced site, but Cary Nelson is still deeply involved. (And he liked our index.)
