Years ago, we rescued 3 baby squirrels who bailed out of their nest from the spruce tree in our back yard. Their mother had been hit by a car on our street. I kept them in a box in the bathtub to keep our cats away from them - they were too little to bounce out of the tub so it worked quite well. I fed them for two weeks with a bottle...kitten formula was the closes thing I could get to squirrel milk. They grew like little weeds. My husband was gone on a trip during that time. Our son and I were used to the squirrels being in the house but we "neglected" to tell hubs about them while he was gone...he walked into the bathroom upon returning from his travels...walked directly out of the bathroom and looked at me and said "Really? Squirrels?" Since we only had one bathroom at the time, it became more challenging to keep the squirrels wrangled and the cats at bay. Had to find a squirrel rehab person who was willing to take them...we found one who lived a half hour away. I was super sad to let them go but they were released into the wild to live their best squirrel lives. I'm envious of this guy...I'd love to have a chipmunk.
