I love animal videos but I wonder why the people just don't help the animal on this and other videos. I would probably redirect his front paws to the mat area and see whether he can hoist himself up there. If not, then I would push him by the butt and help him in.

My sister had a dog similar to the one in this video. Poor, fat, old dog couldn't get into the car, onto the sofa, or onto the bed without a boost. No way any of us would have stood by and watched her struggle.
