Storm update from Richmond, Indiana.

We got freezing rain that weighed down the trees and power lines. Then the wind picked up. That's a bad combo. We have a scanner and I've heard several reports of downed power lines and power outages. Now it's starting to snow.

I was iced in for a week with no electricity back when I lived in North Carolina. Thank the local utility board for gas water heater, stove, and fireplace. At least we could eat and bathe (in a stone cold bathroom, but the water was hot).

I was glued to the only radio station that had a live DJ who volunteered to stay in the studio and on the air until the Raleigh/Durham/Cary (not everyone knows "Triangle" ) area was back up and running. People called in to give their area and neighborhood conditions, who had power and who didn't. It was our only connection to the world.
