she was about three weeks old. I still can't understand how she managed to survive. Those woods are full of coyotes and other predators, not to mention she couldn't fend for herself. The wonderful woman who rescued her was deathly allergic to cats, but she couldn't leave her there. She put Sammy in her screened-in porch then put a notice on the electronic bulletin board at work. I saw it, and the rest is history. She's almost 6 now and most petite cat I've ever lived with. Our vet thinks it's probably because her mom was malnourished and then Sammy didn't get the proper nutrition as a kitten. She's just a couple of ounces over 5 pounds and very, very spoiled.

This is her, clearly displeased by the size of the box I had just unpacked and put on the floor to take to the recycling bin. She naturally assumes that anything and everything placed on the floor (or anywhere else, for that matter) is hers.
