I can't wait. I love the whole silly fanfare of the show. I love to see all the stars all dressed up (I don't care who wins this year) and the whole silliness of the Red Carpet.
I'm too old to stay up for the thing, but I watch it on Youtube.

(63,912 posts)BTW, if you ever go out there, be sure to go to the Warner Brothers Costume Museum. It is the coolest experience. You get to see some of the old costumes from old WB films, such as the costumes worn by Bogart and Bergman in the final scene of "Casablanca" and the ones wore by Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady." And THEN, they ask you if you want to hold an Oscar which I definitely did! It was too cool. The oscar is heavy, btw, weighing over 8 lbs...my daughter took a pic of me "receiving" my Oscar. I was blown away...

(9,967 posts)I'm really rooting for Rami Malek to win for Best Actor. He was fantastic as Freddy Mercury!

(27 posts)The show used to be less serious.itwas more lighthearted...fun. The actors have gotten to where they take themselves too seriousluy. And tbh, I'd like less politics (thanks trumpy!). Even though I agree with most of the politics, I can still get mad.
And the show is too damn long! Lol

(27 posts)And supposedly some of the lesser-known categories this year will be awarded during commerciala in an effort to trim time. Maybe having no main host will help, too.
My biggest annoyance is how some winners try to thank half the world, ignoring time limits. After a few, it starts to add up!

(7,400 posts)years. Once they are over I might pick a few to watch. Other than that it is a blindingly annoying few hours of wannabees and those that cover them. It doesn't mean I will not or did not enjoy the films, I just want to form my own opinions and let them stand the tests of time.
Maybe that's why I enjoy TCM.

(16,811 posts)I have not missed an Oscar show since 1964.
All I want to see is Rami Malek win the Best Actor Oscar for "Bohemian Rhapsody". He was so amazing as Freddie Mercury.

(20,222 posts)Although Christian Bale as Dick "Satan" Cheney will be stiff competition. Of course, they could cancel each other out and let a dark horse win. I'm hoping Glenn Close wins for "The Wife". She's due. I hope Sam Elliott wins Best Supporting Actor. That would be nice.
I do enjoy the Oscars, but I like the Golden Globes too, because everybody associated with a movie or TV show gets to sit together. I think it's a little more fun.

(2,252 posts)I love watching every year but my picks usually don't pan out. Remember trying to stay awake in 1962 and all I kept hearing was Lawrence Of Arabia every couple of minutes.
