Anyone have peptic ulcers?

What foods do you avoid? What do you do for pain relief?

I took a bunch of aspirin, twice, for a bad headache yesterday (we were out of Tylenol) and it knocked me on my butt. The upper abdominal pain was so intense, I was very close to going to the ER.

Feeling a lot better now, but want to eat and drink as gently as possible for the next week. I never want to go through that misery again.

I'm new to this, so any tips for management would be greatly appreciated.

ulcers are caused by a bacteria that is easily treated. there is even a blood test for it.

Just found out I've been having textbook, but mild, symptoms for a couple years. This was my first acute episode.

If not, you might try generally reducing the acid in your stomach -- maybe it's heartburn (acid reflux), which is a lot more common.

I take Omeprazole (Prilosec), stay away from hot peppers, and take plenty of ph+ fluids, like matcha (green tea). There is a lot of literature out there about acid reflux.

on edit:

I say this, because I used to think I had an ulcer, and when I finally got to a doctor, discovered that it was acid reflux.

within a month taking omeprazole twice a day. She was not on any dietary restrictions although avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods would probably help.

Caffeine is bad for relaxing valve between stomach and esophagus allowing acids to move upwards that can cause extreme discomfort.

Pepcid AC is very helpful and reportedly has fewer side effects than Prilosec which can cause serious side effects such as kidney damage.
