Zevon has dogged me my entire life, waiting patiently for me to grow into his lessons. My dad introduced me and my brother to Zevon. I was five, and my brother was three. During "Excitable Boy", my brother would jump up on the couch and rub an imaginary pot roast all over his chest. We are told that we turned out well in spite of this.

Love those lines.
But, "Send Lawyers, Guns and Money" will always be my favorite. That beat almost has me up and marching.
And with that, I shall go to sleep.

Always thought the substitution of Smith and Wesson for Smith Corona took a lot of the poignancy from the song.
A junkie pawning a pistol for a fix just doesn't have the tenderness of a writer pawning his typewriter.
