(2,396 posts)I heard somebody say that colorizing pictures like these puts us in the moment and removes the barrier of time, so to speak. It humanizes the subjects in the photos so we can identify with them.

(60,010 posts)I liked it when it was shown as black and white, looks great in color.
Reminds me very much of a similar old country store somewhere around Anniston, Al. that I saw way back in 1964. Only place where I saw cigarettes being sold singly...5 cents for 2 cigs.
they were only maybe 30 cents a pack at the time.

Just a few minutes ago, I saw a lil town called Pull Tight, few miles north of Tuscaloosa, as I was tracking an apparent tornado cell crossing

..."from a term mule drivers used when they had to get the mule team to pull together to get up a difficult hill".
I've been here for ages, still find it endlessly fascinating.

My parents bought a house from his granddaughter.

(43,049 posts)Marshall's photo oil colors and pencils. Sold quite a few of them, too.
Truth is, I preferred the look of hand colored, because I much better control over the texture and color. And b&w film and paper was much cheaper than color.
Some of these are excellent, although I don't know how they would look on the wall.
