She likes to go out, in fact there's no keeping her in and I can't deprive her of something she loves. But today she didn't come back at her usual times. It also rained all day, so normally she'd go out and come back in an hour later. Today... Nothing. Im hoping she got into a neighbor's garage. She does wear a necklace with her name and our phone number...
Not even back for dinner

(7,875 posts)Both times they turned up trapped in someone's garage. It's likely she was seeking shelter from the rain in someone's shed or garage and got closed in. Go around to the neighbors and ask if any of them had their garages open during the rain.
Fingers crossed.

(12,022 posts)It is so worrisome when you have to wonder what happened! Odds are she's okay though, animals are tough, and sometimes decide to explore.

Ask your neighbors to open their garages and sheds.
Here's hoping for the best.

We have a cat like that too - even in a one-bedroom (although cluttered) apartment she can absolutely disappear, to the point where we think she jumped out the 2nd story windows. Eventually, she pops out, from somewhere...

The cat was in the house the entire time - but completely invisible and undetectable.

(5,909 posts)Our indoor cat got out last year (she was 18) during a thunderstorm and we found her 2 days later a few houses down in a neighbor's garage. I didn't sleep at all.

(13,780 posts)Can't figure out how she got there. She's quite a jumper, but still!
Anyway, it was almost midnight so I decided to leave her there. I couldn't go up on ladder at night to try to get her down. She was mad at me for that but there was really nothing I could do at that hour.
But then, about 3 AM I heard hear yowling as if she was in a fight with something on the roof. Then, nothing! I got up and turned on the lights to scare away whatever it was, but there was no noise around any longer. I called her, but no response.
She didn't come back the next day and I went around the neighborhood calling her. I had 12 people over for cards Saturday night and they were saying maybe a hawk or even an owl (there's one in the neighborhood) got her off the roof and killed here. But, I went out during a break, called her, and she answered. She was busy exploring a wild area near the house. She came out and "talked" to me and followed me back to the house.

Under the bed? No cat. In the office closet? No cat. Cat bed? No cat. Living room? No cat. Kitchen, bathroom, litter box? No cat.
Ten minutes later, furball appears in a door, meowing.
