(20,585 posts)what a special cat. I think this is why cats go to people who don't like cats - they are trying to reduce their anxiety - smooth out the vibes.

Wish republicans and democrats could understand, again that we're all in this together.

(9,426 posts)Good for each other. The cat was determined to comfort the pup, whether she wanted comforting or not!! Finally wore her down, now all is peaceful. Precious.

(16,189 posts)Any animal rescued by my sibling might as well have died and went to heaven.
They both had hard lives when young she was abandoned by a puppy mill after years of producing puppies; he was rescued from the city streets half-starved. Now, she is fed doggy ice cream every evening and sleeps in bed next to her human. THe cat has slowly started to trust humans and become more of an indoor cat he used to run away from visitors.
The cat curls up every every evening, like a spoon, next to the dog. It seems to keep the dog calm and able to rest. Sweetest thing.

(33,643 posts)Very sweet and cute though. My kitteh used to love our dogs (though it took him years to really warm up to them as he'd been in a 1 cat home for his first 5 years), did this same kinda stuff, when they were here.

(129,296 posts)but not in my sister's household! The cat (a long-hair tortie) gives the dog (a black lab) the evil eye and is like Oh HELL nawwwwwww. You stay over there and I'll stay over here!

Look at this dog's eyes, tail and body behavior.
He's wide-eyed, a sign of fear in dogs. He constantly looks away, sleeps through and is bodily unresponsive when the cat the approaches him.
Notice how he only wags his tail toward the owner -- no such thing with the cat.
My opinion: I say the cat's affection is not returned. nows how he feels and doesn't care as long as cat has his/her cushion.
He's tolerating this cat's advances.
So I would say "comfort" is in the eye of the beholder, but not this dog's eyes.
