A re-do on "gilding the lily" - cute-ifying a panda!1

O.K., long story, when I was, like, four yrs old, my Xmas present was a panda plush item. Talkin' a yard high plush item, wrapped with a gigantic red bow. Odd fact from back then, when the intitial presentation was over, I went back to look for the bow and it had *disappeared* and I looked and looked... etc. (Get it?!1)

Moving on. Am talking DECADES here. So about a decade ago I was stunned when a younger relative/granddaughter-o'dad exulted over a panda saying HER granddaddy (my father) had given HER one, special thing between her and him!1

And I go, Hmmm/whaaaa?!1

So I confronted my remaining older sister about the panda thing and she told me that way back in the 1940s/'50s there was a worldwide media "thing" about pandas being gifted or born in the Mexico City zoo courtesy of China and that the world went WILD about how cute these things were, AND my father was one of the adoring masses.

So the panda thing was HIS thing, that he gifted to all of us as HIS special thing for us.

O.K., so FINE.

************* SKIPPING AHEAD, so since this was on my mind, I decided to do the eBay/Etsy thing and look for a porcelain figurine of a panda, between 4 to 8 inches, whatever. And I scanned through scads and scads of things, and ALMOST ALL of them were ugly for trying TOO HARD to be TOO CUTE!1

Here's the deal: Pandas are CUTE for their own selves. You don't neither need to MAKE THEM CUTER --------------BECAUSE YOU CAN'T!

Do not DO that!1
