Not only cool to watch the creative process up close and personal, but I found it inspirational too.

And one question: Wherever do you get gold hex nuts?

I believe those were brass hex nuts - much easier to get. I sort of expected him to electro-plate it with gold before putting the diamond in, but then he could trim the clips that hold the stone in place.

Even powder coating it any color would have kept the gloss and sealed it forever. Might have been cool in black, pink, or you name it.

It silver solders wonderfully, and it buffs up to a warm nickel feel, unlike a cold chrome plate finish.

Is that it has heft. It's also a lot easier than ss to work with. Brass is pretty malleable.

I'm leaning more to powder coating now that I think about it. It comes in every color, including stainless and seals well. It's almost impossible to chip and anyone with an oven can do it. I had my friend's Triumph TR4 wire wheels coated in "chrome silver" ten years ago and they still look perfect. The finish is more of a bright silver look than actual chrome.

Imagine that ring in metallic ice blue or pink.

On edit: I just noticed how many here just commented to debate the value of diamond rings. I have a feeling they didn't watch the video.

But then I watched the video.

Initially I figured it'd be some yahoo gluing some hardware together into a psuedo ring. I was wrong.

For a while into the video I thought it was some crafty biker machining and screwing some brass nuts together as a redneck engagement ring for his o'l lady. I was wrong again.

My first clue came when I started really looking at the unique tools he was using. Near the end I was asking "why?" when the word appeared on screen. Yeah, why would anyone waste that artistic talent and time on a brass ring when precious metals would be easier to work with and more valuable? Other than the internet challenge that was revealed, I'm still not sure to be honest, except to show off.

Still, that was a cool video. Thanx for posting!
I watched it twice and emailed it to my kids.

This guy is a Jeweler, who already has the expensive equipment to create this 'brass ring'. Working in a Jewelry Retail store for more years than I care to admit, please realize, ALL Jewelry is marked up minimum 100%. I've seen some as high as 300% markup. Gotta pay those expensive Mall Rents somehow.

If anyone watched ALL the way to the end, appears that Pablo is wheelchair bound, so this is a good way to spend his time, creating, instead of watching others. I'm certain this took hours, if not more than one day to create. It was a complex creation, and knowing what goes into a Diamond Ring mount is first and foremost best knowledge. Betting Senor Cimadevila has been a Jeweler for many years, and this was something he's been doing as a way to show that not all rings have to be expensive.

if her significant other HAND-MADE something this incredible

Yes she'd still probably ask for (and get) a "real" ring, but there's nothing sexy or endearing about scratching out a personal check.
