I think the greatest achievement of mankind is hot and cold running water. On demand. In my own house. Amazing.

In Durango, CO a lot of the residential water is so polluted that you can light it on fire. Had the home inspector tell me a story about how he personally did that: filled a bottle with tap water and lit it on fire. Perfectly safe to drink!

One time I took a camping trip to City of Rocks, ID. Was there for a week. You had to hand pump water from a well. My friend had the brilliant idea of filling 2 liter bottles with water and sticking them on the dash of the car so they would warm up enough to have a "shower". We fought over those bottles.
