while I sleep. Seems he likes things with my scent on them all of a sudden. What is he trying to tell me? Is this normal cat behaviour?

CAT FOOD!
If you have been giving the same type of food for weeks from a large bag it might be time to get something fresh. Cats are finicky after all.

seal up pretty good, and use a trashcan bag for a liner so I can really keep it fresh. She doesn't like her dry food when it's old and stale any more than we do.
