The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy Mom passed this morning.
She fought a hard battle, and it's been a long road.
My brother and I were with her the whole way, and this morning he played her favorite band, Queen. Cranked. At 8:30 this morning at the end of the last album, my Mom took her last breath.
I love you Mom. Her last song.

(19,736 posts)I understand how you feel. I was holding my mother in law's hand when she took her last breath. It was the first time someone I loved died and I had no doubt the love we shared. It was beautiful and heartbreaking. I hope you and your brother find comfort and are doing OK.

(9,902 posts)agreed, heartbreaking, but beautiful at the same time.

Not all moms are great, but usually, there's no one else in the world who will love a person like a mother loves him. I still think about my Mom every day.

(9,902 posts)not that I didn't love my Dad too, his death was much different. With Mom, I spent so much time with her on a daily basis.....

It's not trite or cliched... she IS at peace now.
.
And it sounds like she had wonderful people around her to see her off.

I lost my Mom the day after 9/11. She, too... was a wonderful Mom
and I miss her though she is still with me and I think about her almost
certainly once a day... and often more.

Vibes of healing and acceptance sent to all involved.

(5 posts)I am very sorry for your loss and though it is a very tough phase that has to be faced, you should keep your head held high and look at it as just another hump that you are to get over and actually move on to in the future. But when you really think of it, it is very tough to deal with and things are just not that easy and in hindsight, a lot of people actually lose it in this type of battle but they still face tomorrow.

(15,224 posts)But I just gotta say - what a way to go! Obviously, you are a very close-knit family and that is such a precious gift. Your mom must've been a special lady to have raised two sons who took great pains to make her exit from this world personal and special for her.
I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Maine-ah
(9,902 posts)but only one son, and one daughter managed to grow up and stand by their Mom. The other two...well, I guess they can live with their regrets, as we have managed to walk away with none. She was an incredible woman, who would have done anything for her children. This was the least we could have done for her.
Thank you, hamsterjill

Like sadly too many here, I know what it is like to lose a mother and what it's like I'm glad you and your brother were able to be with her at the end -I know it would have meant a lot to her.
And your mom had excellent taste in music -Queen is also my favorite band. And that last song is beautiful and very haunting and very poignant.

(4,056 posts)I lost my beautiful mom 5 years ago, and I miss her every day. But I can still hear her voice, urging me not to dwell on the past but live the life she wanted me to have. She is forever in my heart, so I can't really think of her as being gone.
That Queen song, and "Days of our Lives" will always bring me to tears. Good choice for a swan song! Sending the good vibes.
Lost my mother 2 years ago. Her song was "Because We Believe" by Andrea Bocelli.
May you find peace in this difficult time.
