And it looks really good. The book and movie changed my life when I was a teen. It was everything I wanted to be able to write-smart Alec, acerbic, crazy, angry af and wickedly funny. It had all those NYC elite writers and actors I loved.
Its on HULU on May 17th. I have to watch the original now. But George Clooney! ❤️

(58,704 posts)Loved the book. Movie was...disappointing. But not surprising. Difficult plot to follow cinematically, I guess. That is if you think there actually was a plot.

(41,991 posts)I know what you mean but I liked it. It was my first introduction to a circular plot, something Joyce did in Finnegans Wake and of course Pulp Fiction did wonderfully.
Its very much what I was like when I was 15, when it came out. I lived in the small town Gulf Coast South and wanted nothing more than to be a writer in NYC.
FakeNoose
(32,739 posts)I was very disappointed and confused by the movie, but the movie also made me question my original opinion of the book. Now I'm thinking I should revisit the book and maybe I'll love it again. In my early 20's I thought Joseph Heller was a genius but his later books were never as great as Catch-22.
