Cannot believe I sat through all those American Idol shows to watch the results last night.

Phillip Phillips won on personality, but he didn't win on talent. He has a gravelly voice that I think is interesting but it's very much one note. The judges kept saying he was doing things his own way, when in reality he had a very limited range.

Of course, I'm being extremely critical because it's the first American Idol I tuned in to watch and I favor the power voices which can actually sing a phone book.

That said, I bet Jessica Sanchez will be one of the first "came in second" artists of American Idol that will actually outdo the winner of the season.

I watched it too. The overall quality of contestants actually does get better every season, despite what some people say. The young man who won last year - country singer Scotty McCreery - actually has a rich, beautiful voice.

As far as this season- Phillip was easily the worst voice in the top 5- Joshua Ledet was probably the best. America isn't a very good judge of these things over the phones, but it will all even out in sales.

It was kick seeing the country crooner sing with Reba.

And as much as we Packer fans love Donald Driver - he wasn't necessarily the best dancer this season, but probably the best known finalist on DWTS.

and that is because I was a captive audience. My daughter and I were staying a few days in a rental in the Smoky Mountains. She is a huge fan and had control of the remote, so I had no choice but to watch it. Otherwise I never watch that stupid show.

If I recall, he was never in the bottom three. I loved that original song he did, "Home". I think that is what clinched it for him.

There have been several men with similar styles who have won in recent years-- Lee DeWyze, David Cook, etc. Can't remember them all.
