Years ago I visited the cliff dwellings. There was barely a parking lot then,
just a gravel turn around. No one anywhere near. My friend and hiked up the
middle fork, camping next to one of the many hot springs. I stayed a week,
catching trout and cooking rice and the watercress that grew next to the hot water.
Then down to Silver City, a wonderful little town, students from Western New
Mexico University, history, scenery etc.
I've been back several times. Always fun.
P.S.-- the Gila Wilderness is the largest wilderness area in the continental US.
