(23,340 posts)Gimme some chocolate-covered cake donuts. Heavy things that go "clunk" when you drop one on the table.
Mmmmm

(12,132 posts)There are often lines waiting for the light to go on letting us know that a new batch just came out of the fryers.

(6,336 posts)I think of my governor instead (who has eaten way too many of them).
I had KK donuts a few times and they just don't do it for me. Give me Dunkin any day.

(6,581 posts)Maybe they're better if you get them fresh at a Krispy Kreme store. The ones I tried were a very average glazed donut, not bad but certainly nothing special, and not much different from the ones the in-store bakery at Meijer or Kroger sell.

(12,132 posts)You gotta go to KK store...wait for the sign to light up and get 'em right out of the fryer.
Those other things are already old when they get there and older when you get them.
IF all I want is a glazed donut or 10, Krispy Kreme is the only choice. Now it wouldn't hurt my feelings if some of these other places that had cake donuts and variations on the theme like filled and bear claws, etc would open up around here. We have Dunkin Donuts and I have never had one that I didn't think was stale. Even when bought right from the store (we have one a quarter mile from work). I don't recall seeing them bake or fry anything in the store - I wonder if they even do.

(2,675 posts)Warm--if not hot--fresh off the conveyor belt...the frosting or glaze or whatever you had so delicately topped onto the donut that it crumbles as soon as your teeth touch it...there's nothing like it.
They are the medicine to some particularly shitty days.

(2,437 posts)I could not eat another jelly doughnut after that. Not even Tim Horton's doughnuts hold a candle to it.
