It's really hilarious...they act all mad and stuff, then you laugh and offer them a beer (that's how I keep from getting punched).

I generally

1) Offer them a cold drink - beer, Gatorade, water. Their preference
2) Tip each worker who actually carried/unpacked stuff $10 per.

I always assume they are getting paid jack. If they protect my stuff, they are saving me loads of money. Plus I can’t do what they do.

We've tipped between $25 and $50 per person, depending on how much stuff we have and how many movers there are. And really tip well if you have antique furniture that weighs a ton.

and got tipped twice. We had to move a piano (very heavy) to a penthouse
in Arlington, Va. The elevator stopped one floor below, so we had to carry
the piano up the stairs to the top floor. I think the guy gave us ten bucks
each. About three hours wages then.

When I moved into my new house xxx-teen years ago, I tipped the work crew very well. They worked so hard and did such a good job.

I am a packer for a senior moving company. While I don’t get tipped the movers who lift the boxes I pack and furniture do the heavy work. Normally $20-25 per mover.

Once though I did a job where the owner gave us each a $150 tip!

them kids (kids to me - in their 20s) busted their asses getting my shit moved across town. I gave them 20 each. They declined the beer.

If we ever move again I'm not doing it unless and until I have enough money to hire them and tip them well to do everything.

from u-haul and they packed and moved the truck, took them about 3 hours max.
I tipped them 20 bucks each and a cold can of soda.

The professional move, that cost a bunch because we moved to another state, I didn't. I did tip the college kids my son had arrived and helped us. The professional move cost thousands. I just didn't think of it on the professional move.

floor balcony because you don't want it anmore and they are young and like throwing stuff off of balconies. Had piano movers charge over $1000 to move a piano. 3 huge guys show up. Put a ramp on our steps. The piano was just inside my parents livingroom. They had it out and on the truck in 2 minutes. I'm serious. I don't think we tipped them.

crew of 4 to move us. When they completed the job, in under 3 hours the bill was adjusted down to a total of $500.00, due to the estimator's errors in calculating mileage and the amount of stuff we had. The move was completed by 12:30 am, so the crew go the afternoon off.

We tipped each crew member $100.00. Nothing came up missing or broken and as usual for us we were moving on the hottest day of the year.

We are not planing on ever moving like that again.
