(21,904 posts)always make me think that our pets like to have pets too.... perhaps for the same reason that we humans like to have pets.

(23,337 posts)It is cute until it isn't. Night before last, our canary winged bee bee parrot fluttered off his flight cage to find his boy (my son). Our old and very sick cat has never paid any attention to Kiwi until the night before last. Kiwi died as a result. It isn't the cat's fault...it was a horrible tragic accident because we had grown complacent that nature didn't apply in our house. We'd had hundreds of times when Kiwi would sit on our shoulder for a snuggle and the cat would be in our lap at the same time. Nature always applies and always has the last word.

But I've known dogs and kitties who've remained closest friends until their deaths. So,
Again, I'm so sorry about Kiwi. You'll miss him for a long time.
